UUCP over TCP/IP

Add an entry to /usr/lib/uucp/Systems:

bdsedin Never TCP,e Any - ogin: tuucp word: uucp

Add an entry to /usr/lib/uucp/Devices TCP TCP,e - Any TCP 540

Make sure uucp entry in /etc/inetd.conf is enabled:

uucp stream tcp nowait NOLUID /usr/lib/uucp/uucpd uucpd

Add an entry in /usr/lib/uucp/Permissions

LOGNAME=tuucp \
	COMMANDS=rmail:rnews:uucp:lp \
	READ=/usr/spool/uucppublic:/usr/tmp \
	WRITE=/usr/spool/uucppublic:/usr/tmp \
	SENDFILES=yes REQUEST=yes

Make sure a user exists on the remote machine with correct user name and password.

Notes:

  • Make sure both machines are in /etc/hosts or setup in DNS
  • Don't add "" \r etc. to Systems chat file.
